FOOTBALL A SCIENCE
That football is a scientific sport seems
to be pretty generally conceded by all.
Its title to that distinction rests upon a
reduction of the game to scientific prin¬
ciples within the last few years.
The player is now told not only what
to do, but how to do it.
If a science be simply systematized
knowledge, or a particular class of facts
logically arranged and explained by nat¬
ural laws, then football may be rightly
placed in that category, as will appear
from the text.
