James
Montgomery
was
a
minister,
poet,
editor,
and
also
a
musician.
He
published
several
volumes
of
splendid
hymns,
and
did
a
great
deal
of
literary
work.
He
was
an
English
Moravian,
born
in
Scotland
in
1771
and
died
in
1854.
