Mr.
Houser
had
quite
a
reputation
as
a
composer,
in
the
south.
It
is
said
that
his
book
was
the
largest
Church
Music
Book
ever
published
up
to
its
date.
Mr.
Houser
was
a
fine
teacher,
he
worked
eleven
years
on
his
book
before
he
completed
it.
No
data
about
when
he
was
born
or
died,
it
is
claimed
he
was
of
German
decent:
we
find
this
note
in
the
Christian
Harmony
page
262.
in
honor
of
Rev.
Chas.
Collins
Pres.
of
the
Williams
and
Henry
College
Virginia.
No
trace
of
the
author
of
the
words
can
be
found,
same
words
in
all
the
books
above
mentioned.
