Pool"
was
composed
by
the
author
for
the
fourth
editition
of
the
Sacred
Harp
in
1869.
The
other
tune
on
this
page,
"The
Teacher's
Fare
well,"
was
composed
in
1858,
but
not
published
till
1869.
Neither
of
these
tunes
have
ever
been
published
in
any
other
book,
so
far
as
we
have
been
able
to
find.
Mr.
Dumas
was
a
primitive
Baptist
minister
and
lived
in
Monroe
County,
Ga.
He
was
for
a
long
time
the
Ordinary
of
that
county,
died
about
40
years
ago
and
is
buried
at
Forsyth,
Ga.
He
was
musical,
was
a
splendid
director
of
large
classes
of
vocal
singing.
He
composed
16
tunes
in
this
Song
Book.
