The
above
tune
is
one
of
the

melodies.
Its
source
cannot
be
definitely
traced,
but
words
and
parts
of
the

are
found
in
the

books
early
in
the
Nineteenth
Century.
There
are
claims
of
its
authorship
from
two
or
three
sources,
but
we
do
not
think
they
are
so
fixed
as
to
make
it
sufficiently
established
as
to
who
did
really
compose
the
tune.
It
has
words
dating
back
for
over
a
century.
There
is
a
hymn
in
"Southern
Harmony"
by
William
Walker,
1835,
page
20,
which
has
the
same
verse
as
this
and
all
the
hymn.

see
"Old
Fashion
Bible,"

and

It
is
claimed
that
all
of
these
tunes
emanated
from
same
source.
